Family Fun at Sweet Berry Farm

Sweet Berry Farm

Now that we are well into Fall (even if it’s still 95º outside), it’s time to start thinking about pumpkin patches! The San Antonio area has an abundance of pumpkin patches ranging from church parking lots (some of the best deals) to theme parks that scare the living daylights out of me. Since there are so many to choose from, you need to plan your October accordingly. This is the season’s first pumpkin patch post on ACMB, but it won’t be the only one!

Barrel TrainThe barrel train

I first learned about Sweet Berry Farm a few years ago when I took my kids strawberry picking. We’ve gone to the pumpkin patch for the past two years, and it’s always a great afternoon. Sweet Berry Farm is in Marble Falls, which is a little bit of a drive north on 281. We usually make a day trip out of this and go see some other sites on our way home.

Pumpkins

Sweet Berry Farm has so much to offer. There are two hay mazes (one for little kids, and one for the more adventurous), there is scarecrow making (my son is still talking about this a year later, and he didn’t even make one!), food, animals, a barrel train ride, and obviously a ton of pumpkins (usually when I say “ton” I’m exaggerating, but in this case I’m not!). My kids especially love all the cutouts for picture-taking and the food. My favorite thing was the flower picking. You get a pair of scissors and a cup, and you get to fill the cup.

The people who run Sweet Berry are some of the friendliest around. They love families and they love kids, so I’m never worried about my kids getting into trouble just for being themselves. Even though the parking lot will make you think it’s busy if you go on a Saturday, there is so much to do and see that you won’t feel crowded.
