Alamo City Moms Blog is excited to partner with the woman-owned Smart Barre fitness boutique designed for women only.
It’s January, and you know what that means: resolutions. Even if you don’t physically write a few down, it’s always good to reflect, refocus, and re-prioritize at the start of the year. One of the most popular resolutions is to get back in shape. As a mom leaving her thirties later this year, this resolution has been top-of-mind. However, my time is already limited and overloaded with school activities, work, and family responsibilities. How will I ever find time to workout? Enter Smart Barre.
You may have heard the name or driven past one of the studios but, like me, felt intimidated walking in to see what it’s all about. So when one of the owners reached out to Alamo City Moms Blog, I was able to ask questions and truly understand how it works. And you know what? It’s a great fitness option for today’s busy mom! This fitness boutique owned by women and created for women only offers a very efficient and highly effective, full-body workout that creates a lean, stronger physique without the sweat. Yes, you heard that right – no sweat! I don’t know about you, but the thought of schlepping a gym bag full toiletries and clothes to shower after an intense workout only adds more time and effort to a fitness routine. Plus, it may sound silly, but I spend a lot of money coloring the gray in my hair, so daily shampooing quickly sabotages those efforts. Needless to say, I was all ears when it came to Smart Barre.
I learned that it’s made up of simple movements that are modified to accommodate your fitness and comfort level. The workout can best be described as a blend of ballet, pilates, and yoga set to energizing music and taught by fun, motivating instructors. You intensify the routine by going lower and holding each movement longer while increasing the repetition. This way, you never plateau and can continue to push yourself.
