ACMB Favorite Things 2016

{Disclosure: This list is brought to you by our line-up of favorite local brands. Each one of these recommendations are favorites of Alamo City Moms Blog, and we personally solicited all companies for inclusion.}

Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens . . . San Antonio businesses with which we are smitten! Alamo City Moms Blog is thrilled to bring our readers our Favorite Things. We have spent months scouring social media and local vendors for some amazing local items from businesses we find inspiring. Every business is local, many are mom-owned, and these are our ten favorites of the year. Without further ado—here is our 2016 ACMB Favorite Things list!

BarbacoaApparel | Taco T-Shirts

Is there anything better than a good San Antonio-made taco? We think not! We love BarbacoApparel and the fact that their taco shirts let us claim our taco love loud and proud. Their preshrunk jersey knit tee shirts are 100% cotton with a tear away label making them not only the perfect tee for a taco aficionado, but also super comfy. In styles like Bean & Cheese, Potato & Egg, Chorizo & Egg, and Carne Guisada, you’ll be able to proclaim your favorite taco loud and proud.

Oh. My. Goodness. Have you ever put something in your mouth and realized that you just discovered a new favorite treat? We know this is how you’ll feel about Wildflower Caramels. This San Antonio family-owned and family-run business has succeeded in their mission to create small, unique, and incredibly tasty treat that keeps you coming back for more. Plus, we love that they feel personally responsible to ensure that quality is never compromised and every life along the supply chain was treated and paid fairly. Wildflower offer six different flavors each week that change with the seasons. Y’all—YUM!

We think everything should have a little “Viva Fiesta” to it, including your Diet Coke cans and frosty beverages. That’s why Bird and Pear’s Mexican Dress Cosies made the list this year! Coming in a variety of bright colors, these adorable koozies will have you dancing the flamenco before the day is over.

We discovered Bear & Roo Candles last fall and have been obsessed with them ever since! Started by a local San Antonio couple as gifts for their wedding guests, the Molinars quickly realized they had something special and turned their gifts into a business—lucky us! Every home should have a smell that warms your heart and Bear & Roo offer scents to make everyone happy. Plus, they are beautifully packaged and will blend right in with the decor of your home! Don’t miss their new scent, and our personal favorite for the fall, Red Currant.

Adult coloring books are all the rage, but we especially love the #MomLife coloring books from San Antonio business Papeterie Bleu. These unique coloring books offer a hilarious take on life as a new mom or mom-to-be. With pages like “Motherhood—Winging It” and “Mom Hair, Don’t Care,” you’ll want the designers to be in your MomTribe cause they just get it. Solidarity sisters!

Motherhood is filled with joyful but stressful days. That’s why we are loving Boyd’s Farm’s Facial Mist. Available in Lavender & Geranium or Sweet Lime, this mist is great for calming relaxation, and all skin types. Bonus: this calming facial moisturizer made with organic base oils won’t smear your make up or leave you looking greasy so you can take it with you for a little spritz anytime throughout the day.

Clean house or toxic chemicals all over your household surfaces? The struggle is real. But with Organic Chix Germ Defense Surface Cleaner, it doesn’t have to be! We are gaga over this streak free cleaner that’s been privately tested killing everything bleach killed (Salmonella, E. coli, MRSA, Staph, and flu and cold viruses). Not to mention it’s safe enough to spray on your tooth brush daily so there’s no danger that it will harm your kids. We can almost guarantee that you’ll end up replacing all of your toxic household cleaners with this gem.

A few of the ACMB Team Members are seasoned Kombucha drinkers which sparked an in depth conversation amongst our team members. Kombucha is a fermented beverage made of tea and cane sugar. It’s made by fermenting the tea using a Symbiotic Colony Of Bacterias and Yeasts, or “SCOBY” and has some pretty incredible health benefits like increased energy, cleansing and detoxifying, improving digestion, and immune support. We went on a hunt to find great Komucha around San Antonio and, lo and behold, we discovered Element Kombucha! Element uses only the best teas sourced directly from small tea estates in West China and comes in tasty flavors like Jasmine-Hibiscus, Smoky Black, and Milk Oolong.

Just when you thought your Kendra Scott collection was complete, you go and discover her new fall line. We’re pretty stoked about her new collection featuring genuine stones set against unique metal pairings. A mix of dainty smaller pieces mixed with Kendra’s dramatic statement jewelry has us drooling for it all!

In Texas, we wear flip flops – cause it’s hot, y’all. We think Hari Mari’s Dunes Flip Flops are pretty rad. These flops are not only cute but they can be worn both on land and in water! While we’re crushing on the flip flops for the ladies, don’t miss out on their line for the dudes and the littles in your life.

There might not be anything that thrills us more than the growing culinary scene in San Antonio and new to this list of mouth watering locations is Cafe Dijon. Farm-to-table with a French flair offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, catering, and to-go food, we know you’ll want to make Cafe Dijon part of your regular restaurant rotation!
