Shop ’til You Drop at Boerne Handmade Market

Alamo City Moms Blog is excited to partner with Boerne Handmade Market to bring information about the family-friendly event being held this fall.

In a world of mass-made gifts, products, and goodies that crowd the shelves of super stores we all love, it is so refreshing to learn about a local market that features items that are truly made by hand and with love.

Boerne Handmade Market is a twice-yearly event, with the fall market coming up on October 29. Held at the Kendall County Fairgrounds in Boerne, this event is truly like a real-life version of Etsy. All those cute things made by über-talented artists and crafters? Yep! You get to see them IN PERSON! There will be over 80 handmade-only vendors featuring products ranging from bath and body products to home decor to gift items to children’s toys. Can we say holiday shopping, ladies?

The market will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., and reusable shopping bags will be given to the first 400 shoppers through the doors. Entry cost is $5 per adult and children 12 and under are free; parking is free as well.

Wondering what to do with your kids and significant other who keep asking you, “When can we go?” while you shop? Boerne Handmade Market will not fail you, mama. On October 29, there will be a children’s activity area, a man cave area for non-shoppers, live music, Wanderin’ Calf coffee bar, food tucks, and even a kids’ market where children ages 6–12 have their own booth space and sell their handmade goods. How cool is that?

Boerne Handmade Market seeks to support local artists and makers, and help instill a love of making in children as well. The kids’ market registration is still open and will be until right before the event, so if you have a budding Van Gogh or super-crafty little one, you can learn more about showcasing your child’s work here.

Insider shopping tip: It is recommended to get there right at 9:00 A.M. because there is usually a line waiting to get in, and things fly off the shelves, especially the holiday items!
