Alamo City Moms Blog is thrilled to partner with Christmas Light Fest during this holiday season.

There’s no doubt that the holiday season in San Antonio is definitely a special time of the year. But the swirl of shopping, wrapping, cooking, attending/throwing/stressing about what to wear to holiday gatherings—it’s enough to make a mom laugh maniacally and strangle the Elf on the Shelf with glee. So put everything on pause and spend some time in the glow of holiday lights at Christmas Light Fest. After all, nothing lifts your holiday spirit and reminds you what this season is all about than smiling faces lost in the magic of holiday fun.

This light-filled extravaganza will entrance your little ones and leave you relaxed and filled to the brim with holiday spirit that is sure to last all season long.

Just 20 minutes outside of San Antonio, Christmas Light Fest features gorgeous displays of more than two million sparkling lights filling two miles of historic ranchland. You can drive through the displays, or you can experience Christmas Light Fest ranch-style by hopping on one of four hayrides that tour the displays each night. Sit back, snuggle in the crisp air, and enjoy the glow of the dazzling lights under the star-filled sky while Christmas Light Fest does the driving. Even better: private hayrides for up to 20 people can be arranged, adding a new twist to your holiday get-togethers as you spend an evening in the glow at Christmas Light Fest. Hayride reservations are required, so make yours today.

While enjoying Christmas Light Fest, make a stop at Santa’s Village, nestled in a rustic barn brimming with holiday cheer. Located along the light trail, Santa’s Village is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a variety of sweet and savory holiday treats including s’mores, coffee, hot chocolate, kettle corn, sausage on a stick, and, of course, Christmas in South Texas isn’t Christmas without delicious, warm tamales to satisfy your holiday cravings. Make your own s’mores—and terrific memories!—over the fire while enjoying the rustic setting with your littlest holiday fans and be sure to feed the Longhorns that help power his sleigh across Texas (with his big heart and laugh, Santa really is a Texan, we’re sure of it!).

Of course, this magnificent holiday extravaganza wouldn’t be complete without a visit from the jolly ol’ man himself. Shhh . . . don’t tell anyone, but Santa spends most of his holidays in Texas, admiring the magic of Christmas Light Fest. The man in red is visiting his favorite Texas ranch every weekend before Christmas and the last week before the big day (December 2-3, December 9-10, and every night December 16-24). Be sure to climb in his lap and ask for everything on your wish list! Don’t forget to capture the perfect holiday photo with Saint Nick—there’s no charge for photos, so bring your camera and snap away.

Enjoy all that San Antonio has to offer this time of year, as well as escape the city to experience the beauty and wonder of Christmas Light Fest and add a new sparkle to your season. Christmas Light Fest is open Sunday thru Thursday 6–9 P.M., while Friday and Saturday nights, as well as holidays, feature an extra hour of sparkle until 10 P.M. Members of the military and first responders, as well as their immediate families, receive a $5 discount at the gate throughout the holiday season. And Christmas Light Fest loves teachers, so all educators receive a $5 discount at the gate throughout the holidays, too! More information and tickets are available online at www.sanantoniochristmaslightsfest.com and you can “stay in the glow” on what’s going on through Facebook, @Christmas Light Fest.

  1. My fave song is All I Want for Christmas Is You, by Mariah Carey. I’d love to take my family to the Christmas Light Fest on Don Strange Ranch.
