It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Still, even with all the twinkling lights and velvet ribbons, it can be hard to find the holiday spirit amid the hustle and bustle of the season. My calendar is filled with school programs, wish lists, and holiday parties. But this year I am making a concerted effort to slow down. I want to make more memories with my family and enjoy being together.

One experience we’ll be adding is only a 15-minute drive north of San Antonio near the charming town of New Braunfels. Here, you’ll find one of the newest holiday events, Christmas at the Caverns. It’s a Texas-style winter wonderland on the grounds of Natural Bridge Caverns, and it’s sure to put that magical spark back into your holiday season. The event takes place in the evenings for a limited number of nights only. Here’s a sneak peek into what you can expect.

Christmas at the Caverns begins the weekend of December 10–11 and continues nightly December 17–23. The park is lit up at 5:30 P.M. and stays open until 10:00 P.M. during this festive event.

Caroling in the Caverns. Caroling in the Caverns brings the songs of the season to the majestic chambers of the Caverns. Voices resonate from 180 feet below and the caverns fill with the sound of Christmas. The 75-minute, three-quarter-mile trek combines spectacular natural beauty with incredible sounds. Choirs and professional singing groups from around the state are featured.

AMAZEn’ Reindeer Roundup. Santa’s famous reindeer have been vacationing in the Texas Hill Country, but Santa needs them back for Christmas Eve! Visitors will take off on a jolly adventure through an intriguing maze, festooned with lights and topped with holiday banners, to see who will be the first to find Rudolph and Santa’s other eight reindeer.

Canopy Challenge and Zip Lines. It’s three activities all lit up for holiday fun under the stars! On the Canopy Explorer, visitors have up to 30 minutes to grapple their way to the top of a 60-foot, four-tier adventure course. It’s a test of agility, balance, and strength on 47 fascinating obstacles. There is even the Canopy Kids Course, just for toddlers and young kids. Then, visitors can take their fun to the next level on zip lines that glide high above the Texas Hill Country for a treetop view of the fully decorated Christmas Village and neighboring AMAZEn’ Reindeer Roundup.
