Kids Love Learning at Heintz Preschool

This post was updated in August 2018. Alamo City Moms Blog is happy to partner with Heintz Preschool to bring you information on their Fall preschool program and Open House on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 10:00am – 12:00pm.

Heintz Preschool is passionate about encouraging young minds to playfully explore the possibilities of learning. The school, a part of Congregation Agudas Achim, is in the North Central San Antonio area.  They offer 2 great programs for young learners: Heintz Nursery and Preschool and Summer Literacy Camp. Preschool director Taryn Bretado ([email protected].) is happy to talk to any prospective families about both programs.

Heintz Nursery and Preschool

Heintz Nursery offers care for babies 6 weeks and up as part of their “Orange Birds” program.  Limited spots are available in their baby room so please contact the school to discuss availability and enrollment.  Extended hours are offered 7am – 6pm.

Heintz Preschool prides itself on ‘Creating Creative Curiosity’.  Students age 12 months – 5 years enjoy small class sizes, curriculum geared towards Kindergarten readiness and loving, engaged teachers. The school uses the Handwriting without Tears program to start students on a path to develop handwriting skills in a multi-sensory, well adapted program.  The school day is from 9am – 3pm with extended care from 7am – 6pm (for an additional charge) if needed.

Heintz Preschool curriculum and program also includes:

  • Art
  • Spanish
  • Hebrew
  • Cooking
  • Yoga
  • Drama
  • Music
  • School lunches to purchase

Rodeo week, dress up days and lots of outdoor play foster an engaging and exciting learning environment for preschoolers.

The school’s Yad B’ Yad program, in partnership with Golden Manor Jewish Senior Services, fosters intergenerational relationships between Heintz Preschoolers and local seniors through specially-themed monthly programming.

If you’d like more to learn more about Heintz Preschool or would like to see the school in action, make plans to attend the next Open House on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 10:00am – 12:00pm.

Michelle
Michelle moved to San Antonio eight years ago and yet still feels like a newcomer. She is rather smitten with the Alamo City. She and her husband met at Texas A&M and started their marriage in Minnesota. After six years of very cold winters, they returned to Texas. Michelle has two kids (12 and 9), along with a very quirky rescue dog and two rather cute guinea pigs. A former corporate food scientist turned part-time yoga instructor, she still takes her food very seriously—she just doesn’t get paid for it anymore. She is fueled by tea, cold brew coffee, yoga, dog walking, books and quickly googling answers to her kids eleventy million questions.
