Let Favor Delivery Do You a Favor

We are excited to have partnered with a great local business, Favor Delivery, to bring you information about making the lives of San Antonio moms a little bit easier![hr]

Favor

Favor Delivery just expanded their delivery range to North Central San Antonio, and as a resident within their new delivery zone, I was given the opportunity to try out their service. It was my first Favor, and it will most certainly be the first of many.

Favor Delivery is an on-demand, personalized delivery assistant. You place an order through the Favor app, and they deliver. Orders can be placed for food from local restaurants, groceries, clothing, and more. Favor can also be used to pick up prescriptions, dry cleaning, and packages. A fantastic feature is their “Order Anything” button. No errand is considered off limits as long as the pick-up and drop-off are in the service area. For us San Antonians, and especially my fellow North Central residents, that means we can have some of our favorite foods and products from the Quarry, Alamo Heights, downtown, and the Pearl brought to our door without us fighting the 281/1604 traffic.

I spent awhile perusing the Favor app and decided to have our Friday night dinner delivered. I’m a bit too picky with my groceries and clothing to let someone else pick them out for me, but dinner? That’s cooked elsewhere and brought to my house? Without me losing my joy in traffic? Yes, please!

After scrolling through the categories with the family (and drooling over the fantastic food photos), we decided what we really wanted was tacos—Torchy’s Tacos, to be exact.

We love Torchy’s, but it’s an hour round trip at the weekday dinner hour, and we don’t quite love it enough to sit in the car that long. I loved that Favor was willing to do the traffic fighting for me! I selected the “Order Anything” option and typed in the store name and then my order.

imageI reviewed my order, clicked “next,” and entered my credit card number. Favor charges a $5 delivery fee, plus 5% of the total bill and a tip for the runner. All payment is done by credit card in the app, so it’s a cashless system. You pay the menu price of whatever you order.

Within five minutes of submitting my order, I was contacted my Mike, my Favor driver. He had already called in my order to the restaurant and was calling to see which flavor of brownie I wanted (I hadn’t specified). When I sheepishly told him I didn’t know what flavors they carried, he said he would check and call me right back. Three minutes later, my dark chocolate brownie was chosen and ordered.

I followed my order’s progress on the app. Mike texted me with an ETA, and my family sat tight and hungrily waited.

About 50 minutes after ordering (at 5:45 P.M. on a Friday evening—aka: peak traffic time), my doorbell rang and the angels sang.

There was a smiling face at my door with a bag of tacos, chips, guacamole, AND a dark chocolate brownie. Day made. Who am I kidding? Week made!

I happily took my tacos, profusely thanked Mike, and skipped to the kitchen with my bag o’ food. By the time I had placed the bag on the counter the following screen appeared on my phone to confirm my purchase with tip and let me know that my card had been charged.

Easy. Too easy. A few keystrokes on an intuitive, easy-to-use app and—voila!—tacos appear at my door? Favor, I think I’m in love. Wanna go steady?

Mmmm - dinner

If you want to try Favor—and trust me, you do—first, make sure you are in the San Antonio delivery area. More information can be found on the website or in the Favor app.

Next, download the app and take it from there. The San Antonio delivery hours are 10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. daily. The app doesn’t let you review menus or retailers outside of those hours.

It’s also worth noting that Favor is an on-demand service. You can’t place orders in advance. As soon as you place your order, your Favor starts.

As a special treat to our Alamo City Mom Blog readers, Favor is offering a free, one-time use delivery code. Use code ACMB to waive your first delivery fee. Do yourself a favor and try Favor!
