Top Ten Items That Bring in the Most Cash at a Consignment Sale

We are excited about Just Between Friends Northwest San Antonio’s Fall Sale coming up October 8–10. We have partnered with JBF on this sponsored post to help our readers know which items will bring in the big bucks!

We’re done. The decision that there will be no more babies in our house comes with a little grief but also relief to know what the future holds. I think my husband is most excited about “the purge”: being able to finally get rid of ALL that baby gear that is taking up incredible amounts of storage space in our house. When you pile it all up, it can be disheartening to realize how much money was invested in all of that gear. We weighed our decisions on just what to do with all of this…stuff. We thought about donating, giving it away to friends, or just dumping it. But really, the easiest and most economical decision for us is consignment. And with Just Between Friends Northwest San Antonio’s Fall Sale coming up October 8–10, it was simply a no-brainer.

As a mom, extra cash in my pocket is always a bonus. Consignment sales are an easy way to not only make a few extra bucks but also purge the gear, knowing another family will get good use out of the items that were at one point such an investment to us.

As I surveyed the purge pile, I wanted to know exactly what kind of money I could expect to get through consigning with the Just Between Friends Sale. I spoke with the team behind JBF to find out what the top dollar items are at October’s sale and how I could price accordingly. Consignors make 60% of their sales, less a $10 consignor fee. If you volunteer to work the event, you earn 70%, minus the $10 consignor fee. If you are volunteering and volunteered at their previous event (in this case, in spring of 2015), your $10 consignor fee is waived. Generally, items sell from 25–50% of the original price depending on the condition.
