San Antonio Auto & Truck Show, A Family-Friendly Event

The 47th annual San Antonio Auto & Truck Show rolls into town on Thursday, November 19 through Sunday, November 22 and promises to be hit among all family members. You don’t have to be an auto industry enthusiast to enjoy this action-packed event. See the latest innovations in cars, trucks, and technologies along with many other exciting attractions. Presented by the San Antonio Automobile Dealers Association, this is the premier automotive event in South Texas and will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

Expect exotic car companies such as Lotus and Rolls Royce, as well as returning exhibitors Porsche, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and Hyundai, just to name a few. The San Antonio Raceway, home of the fastest quarter-mile in Texas, will debut its new exhibit that features an exciting array of race cars including the Classic Dodge, Junior Dragster, Dragster, and a 2003 Cavalier Race Car.

On Thursday, the first day of the event and during a media sneak preview, the 2016 Green Truck of the Year and the inaugural 2016 Green Car of the Year awards will take place. Green Truck nominees include the Chevrolet Colorado Duramax, Ford F-150, GMC Canyon Duramax, Nissan Titan XD, and Toyota Tacoma.

In front of the Convention Center, Ford and Toyota will provide test rides of a few select vehicles throughout the 4-day event. Plus, Ferrari Club of San Antonio and The Ferrari Kid, voted the number one nonprofit in the city, will feature a special exhibit with seven various Ferraris.

The kiddos will also enjoy a unique experience when visiting the YMCA Kids Zone on Saturday and Sunday of the event. Here, they will be able to drive kid-sized cars on tracks and enjoy other games. Children can take a spin in one of the tyke rides and partake in their own recreation.

Other must-see attractions include the San Antonio Area Chevy Dealers College Challenge on Saturday, November 21. The friendly competition will take place at the Chevrolet exhibit and consist of students from UTSA, Trinity, OLLU, Texas A&M San Antonio, Incarnate Word, and St. Mary’s each piling into a Chevrolet Sonic in an effort to fill the car with the most “student bodies.”

In addition, you can meet Becky Hammon, assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs and two-time basketball Olympian, on Saturday from 1:00–2:30 P.M. Hammon is the first female full-time assistant coach in NBA History.

The San Antonio Auto & Truck Show is partnering with Alamo Beer for a special VIP package.
