Break Out of Boring: Spring Break Adventures in the Alamo City

We’re staying put for Spring Break this year, but we’re not throwing a pity party. With the weather turning to spring earlier than usual, we’ve decided to get out, see more in our own city, and check out things we haven’t crossed off of our list yet. We’re actually pretty excited to play in San Antonio, especially since we don’t have to pack a suitcase to enjoy the fun.

After all, there are numerous reasons why San Antonio is where everyone in Texas comes to visit: our city is cool, family friendly, and filled with activities to keep everyone more than busy.  Some of the same spots that bring visitors to the Alamo City are perfect for locals to enjoy too. Why should we let tourists have all the fun?

To help you put together some fun of your own, we’ve compiled a mix of spots and activities our team enjoys in and around San Antonio. Dive in below for new adventure spots, as well as some food ideas to help keep your crew fueled up and ready for fun. While this list certainly isn’t exhaustive, we hope it helps you make the most of Spring Break. And we’d love to hear what you’re going to enjoy around town, so be sure to share your tips and favorite places below!

By the way, if you are visiting San Antonio (or even if you live here!), check out our family guide for what to see and do in San Antonio: A Family’s Guide to Visiting San Antonio.

Or if you want to be in full-on “staycation” mode during your break, we’ve got some tips for that too: San Antonio Spring Break Staycation, Family-Style. Don’t forget to check out our monthly San Antonio Scoop for the latest activities happening in the Alamo City!

Dawn
An Army brat who came to Texas for college and ultimately managed to make the Lone Star State her permanent home, Dawn became a mom “AMA” (advanced maternal age), giving her the opportunity to use a stroller vs. a walker as she navigates the world of motherhood. Her growing up way too fast native Texan loves all things Star Wars, Legos, dinosaurs and keeping his parents on their toes. When she’s not busy parenting the original strong-willed child, Dawn runs Tale to Tell Communications, a San Antonio-based PR and marketing agency. An award-winning writer, Dawn also contributes to San Antonio Woman, Rio Magazine and Texas Lifestyle Magazine. She and her family enjoy exploring all that San Antonio has to offer, going on adventures and playing tourist together as much as possible.
