2017 Bloom: An Event for New and Expectant Mothers

We’re thrilled to be hosting our second Bloom event with University Health System at the The DoSeum on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 6:00–8:30 P.M. We hope Bloom will bring together new and expectant parents, giving them the opportunity to interact with mom- and baby-centered businesses. New this year, each attendee can choose one 20-minute, small-group breakout session for more in-depth information on a specific topic. Also on the schedule is an expert panel, full of mom and baby know-it-alls who are focused on answering your questions about the transition into this new stage in life and everything after!

Tickets go on sale Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 8:15/8:30 P.M.

Members of the ACMB Community and Conversations Facebook group and newsletter subscribers will get early bird access at 8:15 P.M., and tickets will be available on the event page, the website, and the ACMB main Facebook page at 8:30 P.M. Tickets sold out in 2016.

Can't wait to see you!

2017 Expert Panel

Our expert panel covers a wide spectrum of resources and information for new and expecting moms in San Antonio, including early childhood cognitive development; early childhood growth and development; pediatrics; doula support and birthing options; postnatal self care and support; baby and kid gear; baby gear necessities; and SO much more! In a one-hour forum, they will answer questions, participate in discussion, and share their expert knowledge with our attendees.

Have a specific question for one of our experts? Questions may be submitted ahead of time on the Bloom Event Page on Facebook

Breakout Sessions

New in 2017: Attendees will have the opportunity to attend one 20-minute breakout session of their choice. With topics ranging from sleep issues to postnatal care, these sessions will introduce you to an expert who can answer all of your questions!

Think the baby books have all the answers? Think again! Join Dr. Megan Hogue, Dr. Kelly Basaldua, Dr. Patrick Finklea, Jr., and Dr. Krista Vizuete for answers you won’t find in any of the baby books. These board-certified pediatricians are ready to mix you a mocktail and answer all of your questions!

Karoline Babian, M.S.L and Certified Sleep Coach, will offer sleep tips for naps and nights, as well as information on creating and maintaining a bedtime routine and schedule. Breakout participants be offered a 10% discount on a sleep package.

Afraid of the car-seat-vigilantes? You’re not alone! The UHS car seat expert will be on hand to give you the REAL facts about car seat use, the whens, the whys, and most importantly the hows of keeping your baby/toddler/little/big kid safe in the car.

What’s the deal with placentas? WHY would ANYONE consider a “nontraditional” birth? Amanda Reyna, owner and birth doula, will answer your questions about how doulas can support you before, during, and after your pregnancy, including postpartum care. Placentas totally optional.

Breastfeeding might be natural, but that doesn’t make it easy! Join our friends from UHS to talk all things breastfeeding basics. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, seek advice and find out about the wealth of breastfeeding resources in San Antonio.

Having a hospital birth and have no idea what to expect? What are the things people say they WISH they’d known? What questions are you even supposed to ask? A UHS patient care coordinator will walk you through what to expect out of your hospital experience.

Bloom Partners

We’re pleased to partner with businesses large and small across San Antonio that focus on and support motherhood—from photography to pre- and post-pregnancy support to goodies you can’t live without. Enjoy meeting our partners and participating in some fun activities, grabbing a bite to eat, and some retail therapy!

Swag + Giveaways

All attendees will walk away with swag bags filled with items customized for the new mom and baby, and we’ll have hundreds of dollars worth of giveaway prizes up for grabs! Each attendee will receive the chance to win and have the opportunity to earn more entries as the night proceeds.
