Father’s Day Gift Guide

Anyone else think that Father’s Day is the hardest holiday to shop for? I know that it shouldn’t be, but breaking out of the grilling/ice chest/another insulated tumbler rut seems to get harder every year. As Father’s Day quickly approaches, here are some out-of-the-box (or maybe they’re in the box but different than what you came up with!) ideas for your own dad or that hunk your kids call Dad.

Experiences

What do you get the man who has everything? An experience! A tour of his favorite ball team’s practice facility, a taste of a rare wine, or more practically, one of these experiences to be had in and around San Antonio:

Golf Lesson + Tee Time

Treat Dad to a one-on-one lesson with a golf pro and a couple of hours perfecting his form. No country club in sight? Top Golf has an in-house golf pro, so you can sign up for a lesson and then stay to practice while enjoying a date night.

Distillery Tour

The San Antonio area is home to several distinguished distilleries, and a tour of his favorite will be something to remember! Check out Rebecca Creek or Ranger Creek and book a tour.

Brewery Tour

Maybe an afternoon learning about beer brewing is more his style, and luckily, San Antonio has several breweries to choose from! From full-on tours to small batch tastings, here are some of our picks: Blue Star Brewing Company, Freetail Brewing Co.Alamo Beer CompanyBusted Sandal Brewing Company, and Weathered Souls Brewery Co..

Rock On

If Dad is an aspiring musician or hasn’t pulled his beloved guitar out of the closet in a while, send him to School of Rock for lessons (they aren’t just for the kids!) and some creative “me time.”

Glass Blowing Demo

Art aficionado dad? This one is for you! Glass blowing is one of those things that is fascinating and mesmerizing all at once; it’s super intense, and the process is pretty cool. Visit Caliente Hot Glass to see class availability.

The Wind Beneath His Wings

Avid skydivers and newbies alike will be energized by this indoor experience (so we’ve been told!). Take Dad for an indoor skydiving date at iFly. Bonus: This would be a fun family activity with older kids!

Get Jazzed

Jazz, TX is a gem in the San Antonio live music scene, and if Dad loves a good live set, this might just be the place for him! Reservations strongly suggested.

Gone Country

Are boots and jeans two of Dad’s favorite things? Check out the line-ups at Floore’s Country Store or Gruene Hall and surprise him with a night of two-stepping and singing along.

A Wild Encounter

If he thinks the kids act like animals, just wait until he meets the real wild ones. Book an animal encounter at SeaWorld or the San Antonio Zoo and watch as lifetime memories are made!

Self Care

Does Dad need to slow down and take a little time for himself? These self care gifts just keep on giving!

A Little Off the Top

If he’s not a fan of the usual salon atmosphere, perhaps a haircut in a rad airstream trailer will do it? Set up an appointment with Traveler Barbershop for a spiffy gift.

A Close Shave

Harry’s is a shaving company by guys for guys—they value quality craftsmanship and reasonable pricing so every guy can have a great shave. Spoil Dad with their special edition Father’s Day Gift Set.

Work It Out

Know a dad who values a home workout but isn’t into a treadmill? He’ll probably be stoked to receive a Yoke Training System.

A Dude's Massage

Is Dad always talking about his sore muscles or aching feet? Set him up with a deep tissue massage at your favorite place.

The Full Treatment

Man-friendly haircuts, shaves, massages, face treatments, and other grooming services await Dad at the Boardroom Salon for Men.

Get Physical

Take him back to his glory days (or maybe just motivate a dad who wants a little extra push) and spoil him with a few training sessions with a personal trainer or gift online training with Peloton.

Clothes and Accessories

For the guy who likes something dapper, handmade, or one of a kind, any of these choices are winners!

Leather Equity

If Dad appreciates handcrafted leather goods, he’ll surely love anything from Gonzalez Handmade or Bexar Goods .You’ll find everything from key chains to coasters.

Matchy Matchy

Why should mommy and me outfits get all the glory? Outfit your guys in matching guayaberas from Dos Carolinas, and they’ll be dapper all summer.

Make a Statement

Does the art in Dad’s office need a little updating and the kids aren’t into another photo shoot? These illustrated map prints from Worthwrite Goods make a statement without being overly bossy. Looking for something eclectic? Check out Feliz Modern in the Pearl for one of a kind puro SA gifts.

Sleek and Slim

Even if he’s trying to bulk up, help Dad slim down in the wallet department. These space-efficient wallets from The Ridge are a cool update to his worn-out wallet.

Face It

Fun sock Friday is better when your socks are custom. Check out Rock ‘Em to create socks with the face(s) of those cuties that call him “dad”.

A book that encompasses the feelings between a daddy and his daughter. Check out The Girl Dad by Liesel Schuh.

Good Eats

There is no shortage of good food in San Antonio (in fact, check out these ACM posts!), but these are three of our team’s favorite places to treat their special guys to a fun meal.

Chris Madrid's

Arguably one of the most iconic burger joints in San Antonio, Chris Madrid’s is a home run as a gift-meal. Treat him with the fam or grab a gift card and let him enjoy at will.

2M Smokehouse

The debate is hot on this one: Best BBQ in San Antonio? Texas? Go see for yourself! Find 2M Smokehouse on Facebook and in downtown San Antonio.

Chicken N Pickle

For the dad who likes to get the kids out of the house, check out Chicken N Pickle for some pickleball and their Sunday Brunch Buffet.

A Boxing Match

Simply can’t narrow it down? These box subscriptions are the gift that keeps on giving. Choose how long you want it to go (from one time to a year or more!) and let the gifts roll in!

Misto Box

Know a guy who takes his coffee seriously? Misto Box might be the most perfect gift of all time. Their coffee gift subscriptions are noted as the “World’s Best,” just like your dad.

Bespoke Post

“The Box of Awesome” sums up Bespoke Post pretty well. If Dad has half as much fun receiving his monthly box as I did shopping on their site, we’re good to go.

Stance

Take a Stance, and set up a subscription for either socks or boxers either monthly or quarterly this Father’s Day.

Man Crates

From project kits to enthusiast specific gifts to jerky delivered in an actual wooden crate, Man Crates should literally have something for everyone.

Texas Butchers

Let dad show off behind the grill or in the kitchen with Texas Butchers. Choose one of their curated boxes or choose your favorite cuts all from local Texas farms.

Taster's Club

Whiskey, rum, or tequila (just not all at the same time, please) from Taster’s Club arrives at his door once a month with process and tasting notes. He’ll be an aficionado in no time!

Anastasia
Born and raised South Texan who has explored living in other states but there is no place like home. She loves being in the "room where it happens" and carries many different titles: mama to a bubbling boy and girly girl, wife to an associate pastor, communications consultant, and a variety of mis pronunciations of her name {Honest- Asia}. Mostly found with a large unsweet tea or iced Americano in hand at The Pearl, Yanaguana at the Hemisfair, side lines of games in Floresville, or exploring the trails of the San Antonio river.
