Bloom: An Event for New & Expectant Moms in San Antonio

We are thrilled to host our fourth annual event just for new and expectant moms/parents! This year we are partnering with City Moms Blog Network and over 50 of our sister sites to bring Bloom: An Event for New & Expectant Moms to local communities and an estimated attendance of over 5,000+ moms across the US! In San Antonio we’ll welcome about 150 local moms/parents.

Bloom is geared towards moms who are currently expecting a baby, and parents who’ve had a baby within the last year, or are planning on growing their family soon. We are thrilled to host this year’s Bloom event at The DoSeum and provide an evening of food, educational resources, giveaways and swag, our amazing panel of experts and connecting moms and families with relevant local resources.

TICKETS GO ON SALE on Thursday, April 5!

2017 Expert Panel

Our expert panel covers a wide spectrum of resources and information for new and expecting moms in San Antonio, including early childhood cognitive development; early childhood growth and development; pediatrics; doula support and birthing options; postnatal self care and support; baby and kid gear; baby gear necessities; and SO much more! In a one-hour forum, they will answer questions, participate in discussion, and share their expert knowledge with our attendees.

Have a specific question for one of our experts? Questions may be submitted ahead of time on the Bloom Event Page on Facebook

Breakout Sessions

New in 2017: Attendees will have the opportunity to attend one 20-minute breakout session of their choice. With topics ranging from sleep issues to postnatal care, these sessions will introduce you to an expert who can answer all of your questions!

What’s the deal with placentas? WHY would ANYONE consider a “nontraditional” birth? Amanda Reyna, owner and birth doula, will answer your questions about how doulas can support you before, during, and after your pregnancy, including postpartum care. Placentas totally optional.

Karoline Babian, M.S.L and Certified Sleep Coach, will offer sleep tips for naps and nights, as well as information on creating and maintaining a bedtime routine and schedule. Breakout participants be offered a 10% discount on a sleep package.

Afraid of the car-seat-vigilantes? You’re not alone! The UHS car seat expert will be on hand to give you the REAL facts about car seat use, the whens, the whys, and most importantly the hows of keeping your baby/toddler/little/big kid safe in the car.

Think the baby books have all the answers? Think again! Join Dr. Megan Hogue, Dr. Kelly Basaldua, Dr. Patrick Finklea, Jr., and Dr. Krista Vizuete for answers you won’t find in any of the baby books. These board-certified pediatricians are ready to mix you a mocktail and answer all of your questions!

Breastfeeding might be natural, but that doesn’t make it easy! Join our friends from UHS to talk all things breastfeeding basics. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, seek advice and find out about the wealth of breastfeeding resources in San Antonio.

Having a hospital birth and have no idea what to expect? What are the things people say they WISH they’d known? What questions are you even supposed to ask? A UHS patient care coordinator will walk you through what to expect out of your hospital experience.
